|Writer's Block: No Thanks
What food traditionally considered to be a delicacy are you quite sure you can live without ever trying? Similarly, what food or drink have you always wanted to try but haven't had the chance to yet?
I have never been able to talk myself into trying calamari. Nope... just cannot do it.
As for what I would really like to try, I would love to try absinthe. For some reason it appeals to me.

|Writer's Block: Interior Decorating
When you were a kid, what posters and pictures adorned your room's walls -- TV/movie stars, singers/bands, athletes, Einstein, bio-hazard warning signs? Why were they worthy of display (and did your parents ever yell at you to take them down)?
My walls were graced with every full-size Linda Ronstadt poster I could find. She was my crush of most of high school and a bit beyond.

|Writer's Block: Got the Munchies
What is your favorite late-night snack?
Ben & Jerry's Double Fudge Brownie ice cream. Occasionally a peanut butter and honey sandwich.

|Writer's Block: Sh*t Happens
What is the best way to develop a positive attitude?
How I wish I could even begin to answer this, for myself even. Positive attitudes seems to need to be fostered with positive actions and surrounding yourself with positive people and circumstances. But, I am certainly not one known for a great attitude.

|Writer's Block: Trading Places
If you could be anyone else for a day, who would you want to be, and why?
I think I would want to be Jessica Alba. Just to watch the reactions of people who stare.

|Writer's Block: Bon appétit!
What is your idea of the perfect meal, including appetizer, main course, dessert, and drink?
A perfectly pinkish prime rib blanketed with sauteed onions and mushrooms, a baked potato with butter, and a small bit of a rice pilaf with little bits of green beans in it. For dessert, a couple or more shrimp cocktails with a rich cocktail sauce. For the drink.... if I am driving, Coke... if someone else is driving, a Long Island iced tea (or two).

|Writer's Block: Let's try this again
What movie would you like to see remade, and why? How would you change it?
I would change the 1970's car chase classic
Dirty Mary Crazy Larry
. Why, first because the ending was too sad and too abrupt. In my ending they would not die. Also, today the effects are so much better and with surround sound and 3-D. high-def and all that jazz the film could be epic. I would cast Fairuza Balk in the Mary role (Excited just thinking about that LOL) and Christian Slater in the Larry role (I think he could pull it off perfectly).

|Writer's Block: Forever young
If you found a magical stone that could keep one person young forever, would you keep it or give it to someone else? If the latter, to whom would you give it?
I think I would keep it. Since I have no kids I would not have the curse of seeing kids, grandkids, etc dying.... and as a chronologist I would enjoy chronicling the 21st century and beyond.

|I am orange today ...
... loud and messy like fingerpaint... !
That song in the commercial has me humming and singing it, and of course thinking about the colors of my life :The muted grey and white of my purring cat, perhaps the perfect force of peace...
The yellow of the flowers I see when I think of you, beautiful, fragile and yet strong as can be...
The dark blue of the blues when they're not blue at all (can you hear that guitar and the trumpet crying)...
The red and orange of sunrise, bathing the day in hope, giving us another chance at redemption...
The black of hate and envy (whoever long ago painted envy as green certainly did green a disservice), casting shadows into our lives...
The sparkling flashes of heavy metal, myriad and magic, always inside me and always a solace...
The gold of beer on a Saturday night...
The greens and browns of nature, trees dancing, rain hitting the ground and making it muddy, weeds fighting against any and all attempts to eradicate them...
And that colorless morass when depression makes everything seem like it is fading into obscurity and nothing at all can reach me. Current Mood: Thinkity

|2008... signin' and divinin'
Wow. It has been almost exactly 12 hours since it happened, yet as I prepare to write about it I find myself a bit shaky, and overly emotional. I had lit all the candles, two vanilla and one pound cake scented, and it was just before 12:30 a.m. here, in the opening hour of 2008. I could hear a party nearby that honestly sounded like it was well in excess of thirty people. Suddenly, about 12:22'ish, I heard it.... "Hey-ay-ay-ay, Hey-ay-ay-ay, I said Hey ! What's going on"
. I suddenly was standing their rapt, spellbound... this is a song which has so long been one that touches something raw in my soul, that reminds me of life's promise. "What's Up?" by 4 Non Blondes was being sung by a bunch of strangers (sounded like about 6 - 8 voices, all women) and it just blew me away. My eyes are tearing up as I think about it. What a beautiful, glorious and totally unexpected way to christen the new year. Whoever you were.... thank you !
This year's firsts (so far) :
• First movie watched : "300"
• First song heard : "What's Up ?"
by 4 Non Blondes
• First poem read : "Quality Time"
by Sharon Peeples
• First IM : Heather in Canada
• First phone call : Shel ! (Thanks !)
• First meal : Cold pizza w/ hot Mary Twining Spiced Tea
• First e-mail : Granny Rosie from Starlite
• First datefile card : Chester A. Arthur's 1829 birthday
That's about all the thoughts I have right now. It is slightly chilly, I am satisfied and hopeful. Cocoa is curled up on the love seat awaiting a little attention, which is on the way.
I love you my friends and wish you the best in 2008 ! The best health, the best fortune, the best friends, the best luck... and the best love. 2008... so far, so excellent ! Current Mood: hopeful

Okay... I thought maybe a few tidbits about me and what makes me tick would be a nice thing for today's journal entry :• I love Mötley Crüe, Guns N' Roses, Kiss, Poison, Skid Row, Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Joan Jett, AC/DC, early Van Halen, and Black Sabbath
• I like Green Day, Weezer, REM, Aerosmith, Jackyl, Scorpions, Pantera, Cinderella, Damn Yankees, Ted Nugent, and Quiet Riot.
• I think Fairuza Balk is sexy and Nicole Kidman is muttly.
• My fave all-time film is A Clockwork Orange.

• I love reality television... Big Brother, The Amazing Race, and Survivor being my three all-time favorites.

• I occasionally like to throw in a bizarre word or two into my blog for no other reason than to be an idiot... so, that being said : "How about a vedro of skilligalee for dinner ?"ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY :
August 23, 1962 - John Lennon married his first wife, Cynthia Powell, at the Mount Pleasant Registry Office in Liverpool.

|An Important Anniversary !
I AM ONE YEAR
SMOKE-FREE TODAY !!!!!
Hard to believe that I've gone a full year since my last cigarette. I would love to say I never think about them, but every time I walk into Circle K past the people smoking outside I love the smell. Many times I have been tempted to "just have a couple", but I know I would get right back into smoking like a chimney as soon as I did. ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY : July 31, 1972 - Three IRA car bombs exploded on Main Street in Claudy, County Londonderry, in Northern Ireland. Six people were killed that day and another three would die later as a result of their injuries. Among those killed was 9-year-old Kathryn Eakin who was cleaning the windows of her family grocery store when the attack occured. Evidence would later implicate a Catholic parish priest in the bombing.

|Day 1 of my journal
Day one of a journal. Hmmmm ! My last journal I did for like 9 days then never revisited. Just watched the movie "Donnie Darko"... not bad. It is bloody hot again today as it has been for days on end. In honor of my first day here I thought a horrible poem was in order :Roses are red
Violets are blue
I'm old as dirt
And ugly too
I love my cat
And love TV
I wish Fergie
Belonged to me
Roses are red
This poem kicks off
My LIve Journal
That's it for today. Peace through superior intellect ! Current Mood: Chillin'
